Love the dark coffee. Killer cell work too. Subtle ins and outs with the characters. I gotta work on that. Joel on February 15, 2012 at 8:28 am Thanks Jack! The panel transitions come mostly out of trail and error and necessity. I draw large, 16″ x 4.75″ but some how I still manage to run out of room! Charlie breaking the 3rd panel was simply because I liked how the pose came out and it seemed a shame to cut it off. It also gave me the leeway in panel 2 to not draw Charlie at all. Jack of Gulls Comic on February 17, 2012 at 10:28 am Ahh yes, less is more. That is drawing large, wow. I just switched to the Wacom world, it’s the best. I still sketch everything in pencil, scan it, and then go over it in photoshop. The Wacom is so streamlined and nice. Joel on February 17, 2012 at 10:32 am My drawing scale has more to do with the scale of my hand lettering (which I now do in Photoshop) and my line/pen thickness. I also hate hunching over a drawing table trying to draw things tiny. I find I even do that at this size sometimes… I have a Wacom Bamboo Fun/Touch because I have two monitors and it allows me to quickly switch with just my fingers. (Tablet uses both stylus and finger.) I am way quicker inking on paper, usually about 90min per strip. I enjoy sketching with the Wacom, but hand inking is a pain with a lot of trial and error. I’m hoping to get a Cintiq 24″ HD this year.
